Cyber Defense Technician NSATU
The Swedish Civil Defence and Resilience Agency recruits committed and skilled experts for our humanitarian, resilience, and peace support operations worldwide on a daily basis. We have extensive experience working together with and strengthening other organisations, such as the UN and the EU, in crises, conflicts, and other disasters.
The Swedish Civil Defence and Resilience Agency is currently looking for a Cyber Defense Technician to support NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine (NSATU). The duration of the mission is initially 12 months, with the possibility of extension, starting in October 2026. The NSATU mission is based in Wiesbaden, Germany; however, this specific position may be located there or in Belgium.

The incumbent is responsible for the protection of classified/unclassified NATO Deployed CIS (DCIS) from Cyberspace threats.
The incumbent's duties are:
1. Identifying system vulnerabilities and possible threats and then applying the necessary safeguards (both technical and administrative) to minimize those vulnerabilities and defend against potential attacks.
2. Performing routine system and network monitoring and detecting security incidents or bad security practices that may lead to system compromise.
3. Mentoring and providing on-the-job training to the military Cyber Defense technicians of the NATO Deployable Detachments (NDDs).
4. Supporting and guiding the daily Cyber hygiene duties and vulnerability remediation priorities of the military Cyber Defense technicians in accordance with the NCISG Vulnerability Management SOPs and CD engineer directions.
5. Supporting Defensive Cyberspace Operations (DCO) during operations and exercises, while working at the Deployed CIS/Signal Support Group (DSG/SSG) and in coordination with the NCISG HQ Cyber Defense engineers.
6. Supporting and guiding the incident response actions of the military Cyber Defense technicians deployed forward in support of operations and exercises in accordance with the NCISG Incident Response SOPs and CD engineer directions.
7. Investigating security incidents and, in coordination with the DSG/SSG HQ S-2 and NATO CIS Group HQ, supporting appropriate actions.
8. Developing, implementing and disseminating security awareness material and training for supported users in coordination with the DSG HQ S-2 and NATO CIS
Group HQ.
9. Assisting the resolution of technically challenging problems with the cyber defense services installed in the deployable networks and systems.
The incumbent may be required to perform simular duties elsewhere within the organisation as directed.
The incumbent is required to undertake operation deployments and/or TDY assignments both within and outside NATO's boundaries.
The incumbent must be prepared for temporary reassignment within NSATU’s authorized CE in accordance with ACO 045-003 and as directed by COM NSATU, in support of operational requirements.
The incumbent will be required to work on shifts.
2 years of experience in the administration of Microsoft Workstation and Server systems.
Demonstrable experience in UNIX/LINUX environments.
At least 2 years experience supporting the security of Computer Systems and networks, either as a security-focused administrator or as a member of a Security Operations Center (SOC) or Network Operation Center (NOC).
Solid foundation in Networking, with a good understanding of TCP/IP stacks, protocols, and ports.
Desirable qualifications
1. Work experience within a SOC with SIEM applications (preferably Splunk).
2. Hands on experience auditing computer systems, network infrastructure and applications.
3. Work experience with endpoint security, network inspection and firewall solutions
Higher secondary education and intermediate vocational training in computer science, engineering disciplines, statistics or similar numerate discipline, operations research, or related discipline which might lead to a formal qualification with 2 years experience, or Secondary education and completed advanced vocational training in that discipline leading to a professional qualification or professional accreditation with 4 years post related experience.
Desirable qualifications
Professional certification in Microsoft Windows or Linux platform administration
Professional certification in networking (CCNA, CCNP or equivalent)
Fluent in English and Swedish (listening, speaking, reading and writing)

Prior to employment, a medical examination must be carried out, and the results must be approved by the Swedish Civil Defence and Resilience Agency. Working with the Swedish Civil Defence and Resilience Agency on international operations means that you are temporarily employed by us. We pay a salary and an additional expenses allowance during the mission. We also pay for accommodation of appropriate standard and return travel, plus 4 home leave travel during the contract period (12 months). You will also receive a benefits package, ranging from access to psychosocial support, counselling from medical coordinators and insurances during the mission.
